October 26 is Drug Take Back Day, a nationwide event founded by the DEA to help prevent the misuse of prescription drugs. The month of October is also Cybersecurity Awareness month, and to celebrate both occasions, Port Washington State Bank and the Village of Thiensville will be co-hosting an event to shred sensitive documents and drop off expired or unneeded prescription drugs.
Police Chief Curt Kleppin commented on the success of the last event. "In April we collected almost 70 pounds of prescription drugs. Beyond that, it's a fun way to get into the fall spirit."
The Oktoberfest-themed event titled Das Klean Out will be held at Thiensville's Port Washington State Bank from 10am-2pm on Saturday, October 26. In addition to shredding and prescription drop-off, the event offers free food, live polka music and crafting activities for children. The Lakeshore Chinooks and team mascot Gill are providing volunteer support. The Thiensville Business Association is also a key supporter of the event and is collecting donations that day to fund the Interactive Water Feature in Village Park.
Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer James Schowalter commented on the reason for his brand's involvement in the festivities. "Fun community events like Das Klean Out are a brand hallmark for Port Washington State Bank, and a great opportunity for our Mequon and Thiensville neighbors to get to know us, and our partners. We're also really excited to see the Village Park ReImagined plans come to fruition with more donations for the next phase of development in the park."
