Mequon Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club Supports Local Youth in Volunteer Experiences
 
As a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders, the Mequon Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club has been supporting area youth for over 36 years.   The object of Rotary International is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.
So it is not surprising that they recently presented a $500 check to the Friends of the Jonathan Clark House for its museum’s Heritage Days events. 
 
Through the Heritage Days events the Friends organization provides volunteer experiences for youth ages 7 to 18.  The youth are called, “JCH Young Historians”.  With their participation in the events they learn valuable lessons in volunteering and giving back to the community just as the Rotary Club does.  For some youth this is their “first time” volunteer experience.  The volunteer tasks include developing games for children and demonstrating techniques such as clothes washing and butter churning.  They also work to help set-up and break down the museum grounds under the supervision of adult volunteers. In addition, the events are highlighted with Lindenwood 4-H Club youth demonstrating their livestock-raising skills with their chickens and sheep.
 
Rotary Club representatives Seth Duhnke, Bob Blazich and Connie Pukaite recently presented their “big check” to JCH Young Historians and adult volunteers.
