About Us
Mequon Nature Preserve (MNP) is SE Wisconsin's largest protected green space. This 510 acre parcel has over 5 miles of trails, a 40 ft observation tower, natural playspace, and is open to leashed dogs. The mission of MNP is to be a guiding example of habitat restoration by returning the land to a mosaic of forests, prairies and wetlands and to establish an educational conservancy that inspires exploration and cultivates stewardship. They work to instill environmental empathy and action into the consciousness of surrounding communities. This is done by providing free field trips to all schools and free events and programing. Different monitoring and research projects are carried out at MNP. These include a rice patty experiment run by a Marquette University professor, as well as bird, odenata, and pond/hydrology monitoring run by MNP staff. MNP is also know for having Wisconsin's first on-staff conservation dog, Tilia.
