The City of Mequon is seeking an experienced, strategic, and people-focused professional to serve as our next Deputy Director of Public Works as our long-time Deputy Director prepares to retire. As a key member of the Public Works team, the Deputy Director provides strategic and operational leadership across the City's highway, buildings, parks, fleet, and forestry operations. You will work alongside the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to manage a large and complex department, develop short- and long-range capital improvement plans, advance strategic initiatives, and ensure the City's infrastructure and public assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Experience in street construction, repair, and maintenance is required. A four-year college degree and/or master's degree in an applicable field and supervisory experience are preferred, along with experience or knowledge in civil engineering and construction. Current salary range: $89,734 - $125,628. Benefits include 18 days PTO and 9.5 paid holidays annually, health/vision/dental/life/accident/pet insurance, WRS pension plan, continuing education assistance, and wellness incentives. This is a full-time role with the fall/winter and spring/summer schedules. On-call as needed.
