Join us for an exhibition of the artwork of Stacey Williams-Ng, "Muscle Memory." Featuring recent oil paintings and charcoal drawings by the artist, as well as early drawings related to this series, dating back over 20 years.
Stacey Williams-Ng (born Tennessee, 1971) is a Mequon-based painter and arts educator. Her most recent series of paintings is inspired by the human figure, specifically the inner strength that drives athletic women to push their bodies to performance. In her paintings, women are not the objectified, passive objects of history but rather are tough, muscled pillars of energy and power. Their eyes do not meet the viewer’s gaze because they are not subjects of anyone: they are caught in a moment of action, a moment of potential kinetic energy.
Drinks and snacks will be served, and attendees are invited to participate in or observe a live figure drawing session by the artist on site.
